Marco Giuranna, research scientist for the Instituto di Astrofisica e Planetologia Spaziali (IAPS) of the INAF in Rome, was personally invited by the Italian Space Agency to attend the first National preview of the movie 'The Martian'. This event was preceded by the session "Man on Mars", attended by with key persons at ESA, ASI, and the Italian astronaut Samantha Cristoforetti, AKA "AstroSamantha".

Marco Giuranna is the PI of PFS/MEx and supervises research projects of the team. He is co-I on the future NOMAD/ExoMars experiment. His main scientific research activities deal with planetary atmospheres and VIS-IR data and instruments. He has an extensive experience working with Martian data sets. Within UPWARDS, Marco Giuranna, is leading the work package related to Aerosols and dust storms.
